<severe off-topic WARNING !!>
Nick is on to something. :-)
Actually, I thought Win95 was extremely stable until I turned on my PC at
home a couple of days ago, had immediate problems printing
to LPT1 and had no sound card function I eventually discovered that the
LPT1 port was not being reported by the Win95 System/Device Manager and
the sound card was flagged as non-functional. I recovered the sound card,
but I'm still trying to find out how to recover LPT1 (I can print from DOS
with no problem). Microbloat wants $$$ to give me assistance. I said, 'No
thanks'.

A <<All that rhetoric sniped>>
Windows'95 is NOT stable. If you want to compare it to MPE,
compare it to MPE 1 (went down every hour).
