This goes back to the reason some think a  12 inch foot is more
convienient than a
10 centimeter meter.  While 100 is evenly divisible (from 1 - 12) by 1
(of course),
2, 4, 5, and 10,  60 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, and 12
giving us more ways to
evenly divide the hour.
