A lotta good stuff from Ken Sletten... then

Absolutely...and given the fact that HP and Microsoft are discussing CORBA
and COM/DCOM issues makes it all the more reason to be looking at MPE/iX as
well as HP-UX. After all, MPE can play in the sandbox just as well as HP-UX
in most respects.

...and I would love to hear Kriss' response :-)

Sometimes, just knowing that the pot's being stirred is enough. The "when"
can come when the recipe has been perfected...but don't let it be too far
down the pike... the "squeaky wheels" will want to see it in the
not-too-distant timeframe :-)

>4. If we are voting, our site would pretty clearly say "DCOM".

Again, given that HP and Microsoft (and other vendors) are looking at
CORBA/DCOM integration (there was a great writeup in last week's issue of
InfoWorld about this), then the goal should be just that, integration. If a
shop is all Windows, then DCOM should be supported. Got a mix of Unix and
Windows? Then these machines should integrate. Remember, the computer
isn't a "box" anymore...but the NETWORK... the information can come from
anywhere, and the end-user dosen't give a darn where, just so long as it
comes from somewhere... this is where CORBA and DCOM come in...

Best,
Joe
