     Dave,

     This answer is coming from a listserver so it's gotta be legit,
     right?!  You were very vague as to which type of IBM you were talking
     about, mainframe (big iron) or midrange (AS400, S/3X) and what kind of
     project you want to do the comparison on, but I believe that the
     following statement holds true for any:

     Whatever you can do on an IBM can be done on an HP3000 for:
     1.  Less money (aka lower total cost of ownership)
     2.  Using fewer people resources (for the project and upkeep)
     3.  Far less time to implement

     If they don't believe me, then just print out all of the responses you
     get to this posting attesting to those "facts"! ;)
