Hi Barry,
Console commands can be allocated to users by logon id. I believe that you
use ACD's to do this.
I am looking at setting this method to give each department one user with
the ability to work the outfence and such here at the foundation.

The first thing that comes to mind is console commands (REPLY,
STARTSPOOL, SUSPENDSPOOL, etc) from someplace else other than the
console. Secondly, there are NMMGR and SYSGEN commands. Can
you run all the necessary products without MANAGER.SYS (CSM,
NETBASE/SHAREPLEX, SOS, GLANCE, etc)?
You might want to sign in as something besides MANAGER.SYS and
see how often you have to sign in as MANAGER.SYS.
Just a few thoughts.....

Our liaison from our data center asked why I need MANAGER.SYS access
(their mid-range support are the only other people who can sign on as
such; they are in another state with our 3Ks; I am the only other such
user). Installing software and patches or handling backups is a
non-issue. Other than them all going out to lunch in the same car, and
getting hit by a bus, and me being the only one left alive who knows the
password. Since one of them is subscribed (hi there), let me apologize
for so unpleasant an example.
While I am coming up with a small number things that I could not do or
could only do with great difficulty with only AM ids, I would appreciate
some feedback from the list. What could you not do that you need to do
where you no longer able to sign on as manager.sys?
