Simon,
- About:
> Hmmm. Not a flicker of enthusiasm ref. my query about TCP/IP thru HP PADs
- I was hoping somebody who investigated this will reply. My feeling is that you
must dump your HP PADS as I have only seen them used as serial comms muxes. For
WAN TCP/IP you need routers and most routers support X.25 links, so ...

> It now seems that I must plan for TCP/IP termulators on a LAN running thru
routers via X.25 to my I.S. Dept LAN and thence onto the HP3000, how does that
sound?
- ... sounds like a good idea.

> All printing to be done via network printers. Is this a generally acceptable
config?
- This is fast becoming the norm.

> Will my 9600 baud cross network speed prevent this?
- OOPS, I think you can expect much worse performance than with your HP PADS.
The data traffic will be higher because of the TCP/IP overhead. Must say though
that I am not well informed regarding routers, X.25 and data compression.

This uninformed posting in the hope of provoking further education from an
expert.

Fred
