I don't rely on this feature, I use MPEX. But I would think that,
since you are generally inquiring on an open file, listf ,access should
give you as acurate an EOF as a listf on a non-open file. (At least as
accurate as possible.) I often use (and rely on) MPEX's LISTF ,ACCESS
to monitor the progress of jobs.
