While it may take time to download the "off topic" messages (depending
on your type of email access), and some services charge by the amount
of email received, at least you don't have to spend time *reading*
msgs that are clearly marked "off topic." [...]65_16Sep199712:15:[log in to unmask]

I was reminded yesterday that I never posted an announcement, so here it is:

Version 0003 of the HP3000 Freeware tape was released at HP World '97! It
contains the *latest* versions of Java (with the JIT compiler), Samba
(version 0.7c, which is version 0.7 plus the 0.7b patch), Apache, GNU
(including a couple of newly-ported GNU utilities), etc.

For details, please see http://www.interex.org/sources/freeware.html
(humour-impaired in-duh-viduals are encouraged to skip the first few
paragraphs).

Please notice that all Interex members with the "Online Service" option will
be sent a free copy of the tape *automatically*! Cool!

Everyone else (even non-Interex members) can order the tape for a very small
fee -- see the bottom of the web page for details!

Anyone who picked up a tape at HP World, please let me know how the install
went. I'd like to fix anything that needs fixing before the mass shipments,
if possible.

Enjoy!
