I was told by a Legato salesman last week that this possible.
Treating the HP3000 as a client system.  Legato plan to release a
server version of 'Networker' for the HP3000 in q2 1998, I was told.

Another idea, if you really want to do it is to use NFS on both
machines (HP/Quest product on the 3K) and back up the mapped drive
space.
