What Term Type are these printers? A short term workaround could be to change
them to Type 26, if they support status feedback. The spooler should abort after
10 retries.

MPE/iX 5.0 is unfortunately ancient history here. The HP Response Centres dealt
with these type of problems in 94/95. What PowerPatch did you use? PowerPatch 6
is still available until HP fixes Express 7.

All I can tell you is my last 5.0 customer was using OVDTCMgr 14.0, patch code
version A.14.00.F00. I believe 14.1 & 2 was also compatible with 5.0, but you
should ask an HP Response Centre. Your reference to 'Openview PAD Manager/DTC
Manager' implies a very old version. Can your applications not go to MPE/iX 5.5
and OVDTCMgr 14.3?
