Hi Jeff,

  Rather than introducing a new evaluator function, did you consider returning
  syntax info by extending an existing function?  For example:

     :CALC FINFO (filename, 'FMTSYNTAX')

  This solution would also allow returning numerical equivalents for each of
  the documented returned 'strings', which might be preferred by some.
