James,

Are you using the New VPN features built into NT?  I also assume
you are using the newer VPN clients either on NT workstation or
95?

If this is the case, as long as you have TCP/IP on these
clients, and the clients are configured correctly with a VPN
Adapter, and a [misnamed] Dial-Up Connectoid, you should be able
to access your 3000s, provided the 3000s can be accessed from
the same segment that the NT server is on.

If the above is not correct, please let us know a little more as
to what software/adapters/clients are being used.
