Frank,
In a nutshell, SharePlex/iX provides a "clustering" ability to MPE/iX.
Among other things, it allows users from multiple systems use databases
on multiple systems as if they were local to the system they are on.
It can allow multiple "pieces" of a database to reside on multiple
physical systems. It can provide a master/slave relationship between
databases such that if the master system fails, you can switch
everything over to the slave and continue processing, etc.
SharePlex/iX is not a file/print server like Samba/iX, but rather a
tool to provide high availability, disaster recovery, and processor
scalability to the MPE/iX world. You could (in essence) use multiple
smaller systems to provide a much higher availability platform with the
same (or greater) horsepower than that of the larger systems.
Larry Boyd is the head of the "Horizontal Growth" team at HP which
encompasses SharePlex/iX. He's attending HP World at the moment, but

OK, I'll bite-
What is Shareplex/iX? How does it compare to Samba/iX as a file server?
Does it run under POSIX (undesirable)? Does hp support it(desirable)?
How does one go about acquiring tech data on it?
