     >Subject: Need Console Cable

     >Hi All,
     > We just recieved a used HP3000 920 to use as a test machine in our
     >shop. It came with a HP 2392A console terminal, but we are missing
     >the cable to connect it. Can anyone tell me what type of cable this
     >should be? Is it just a serial cable (tried it..didn't work), or is
     >there a special PIN arrangment? We have a technician on site who can
     >build the cable if we can find out the specs.

According to my archives, the 920 used a 40242M cable as the console
cable. This cable is straight-thru with the following pins:
1-8,14,15,20,23,24. I believe all you really need is pins 2,3, and 7.

Make sure you're using port 0 for the console.

The 920 used to also come with a 92219Q(?) cable which I believe was
for the modem and was definitely not a straight-thru cable.
