I don't know if this would work, but are you wanting to mark it permanently
or just temporarily?  It seems that a Sharpy TM on the non-data side
(generally, I refer to this as the "Top" :) ) would work once the ink
dries.

Actually, this is a great question, and I would be interested in the answer
also.

Without getting into the "why" of it.........generally when we use a
tape we/I label the cartridge and it's case.  We now have a similar
need on CD-ROM's.  I don't think sticking a label on the CD disc
would be all that bright a thing to do.  Anyone have any suggestions
on how to mark a CD as to it's content?
