Hi,
i made my own experiences on this:
1. set the system clock to the correct value (example is for germany)
setclock timezone=E2:00
setclock;cancel (oops)
setclock date=<date>;time=<time>;now
2. set the tz variable to a good value
setvar tz,"MET-1METDST"
I tried a lot to get these things working. This way, the nettime-utility from jazz shows the same time as the mpe/ix system clock. Also the internal system clock ist set to gmt(utc).
You can verify this, by using showclcks.pubxl.telesup.
In germany, we have dst, now. For Wintertime you should just have to change the mpe-clock by issuing: setclock timezone=e1:00;gradual.

Hi again,
</snip>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pick your time zone and enter:
:setvar TZ "GMT0BST"
Within shell (SH.HPBIN.SYS)
export TZ=GMT0
Check for a .profile within you home path when you enter shell as this line
should be setup.
Be aware that there are more than 2 ways of telling the time on an HP3000.
In the BOOT menu before bringing up the machine you have access to the
hardware clock.
When you bring up MPE you can set the time. This time is set almost as a
timezone from the hardware clock which is NOT altered by what you enter.
Then you have the POSIX time!
Good luck
