I don't know if this would work, but are you wanting to mark it permanently
or just temporarily? It seems that a Sharpy TM on the non-data side
(generally, I refer to this as the "Top" :) ) would work once the ink

Duane,
I recall investigating this question (actually can a 3000 become a 9000)
some ago.  There is a listed product number for this change and an unlisted
product number for the 9000 to 3000.  I don't recall the source but I was told
at that time that the only change had been for someone changing a 9000 back to
a 3000!
