The NCSA Freeware is great for "cutting ones teeth" the world of web
servers that are POSIX compliant. Lars points out the not-so-great
points of the fact that it's not great with CGI scripts (even under
5.0) and it does not allocate a server pool, which means that each
incoming user must wait his or her turn for the one connection
available. Definately not good for a high-use site.

BUT - if you're new to this, and want to play with a web server
that's free and get your feet wet, you can't beat the price.

Apache or QWEBS is what you want for production-class services...
Each has their place, but both perform like troopers :-)

Cheers,
Joe
