I think I must be missing something, because I don't understand why you
would want to do this.  You are still going to be limited to a top speed of
19.2 Kb by the DTC and once logged in to the HP3000, you will have the same
capability for communication on the LAN regardless of what method you use
for your communications.

I doubt very much whether we will ever see PPP/SLIP on the HP3000.  The HP
serial ports just don't work the way Unix ports do ( there was a discussion
of this a short while ago on this list) and I wouldn't hold my breath
waiting for that to change.

Something like an Ascend Pipeline 25 SOHO router might do what you want.
It' not too expensive (around $700) and would give you direct connection to
your LAN.  I don't have any personal experience with it, but I think it
only supports ISDN.
