Brit is slightly derogatory, but it does not mean English.
We live in, to give it its full title, the United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland.
So Brits include the Welsh from Wales and the Scots from Scotland as
well as the English.
Though it does not include the Irish from Northern Ireland, for whom
'Brits Out' is therefore not a contradiction in terms.
The French side of you may be interested to know that we refer to the
French as 'Frogs', while they call us 'Rosbifs'. Both are thought to
reflect culinary predilections....:-)
