Actually the break instructions were never put in between statements
in COBOLII/iX.  Only at COBOL run unit & program entry/exit and procedure
labels (paragraphs/sections).  But the later was enough to kill performance.

You can remove these break instructions (and debug info) if you link with
;NODEBUG.
