Many thanks to all who responded!  As soon as I read the first
response I slapped myself up side the head and said "Yeah, that's
it!"  Well, that's the good news.  The bad news is that the tape
*still* won't eject!  HP is on the way even as I type.  Looks like
I'll be here late tonight.  <sigh>
