Gentle HP 3000 Listers,

This past week, I found out Microsoft is planning to spend US$ 1 billion on
the development of Windows NT. That is $1,000,000,000 for the Brits in the
audience. This is a fair amount of resources and denotes quite a
commitment from Bill Gates & Microsoft on the future of Windows NT.

I suspect many of you think this is about right to make NT work properly or
other snide remarks, but that is just ostrich-emulation. Windows NT works
quite well and is gaining new functionality in the next release, 5.0 (aka
Cairo.) It sends a message to the industry, a very strong message.

I wonder what is the size of the commitment HP is making to MPE/iX or
HP-UX?

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
