A couple of suggestions only, I don't know if it has anything to do with
it:

Make sure the Alpha looks for ASCII "DC1" (Control-Q) as part of the
prompt.

Is the HP3000 a 16-bit MPE-V machine? They send out an ASCII "ENQ"
(Control-E) and expect an ASCII "ACK" (Control-F) about every 60 or 72
characters.

Subject: Firewall

I need to get an HP3000 behind a firewall and be able to dsline and push
and pull data to an HP3000 on the public side of the firewall.

I am using Altavista on a DEC Alpha machine. Sometimes I can get to the
logon prompt on the remote HP3000 and the system will hang on the security
3000 password or I will get VT errors.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Cheryl Sanders
