        Greetings,

To enable a client to ftp files from their HP3000, through a
firewall, to another machine on the Internet, I have been porting the
socks5 library from NEC to the HP3000 over the past weekend. To find out
more about Socks go to http://www.socks.nec.com/

I have managed to compile/build the library and also the rping
and rtraceroute commands.

I am, however, having trouble getting the rftp command to
function properly.
In fact, although I did manage to connect to a remotes host, the
HP3000 halted as follows:-

           /rftp mickey.iafrica.com
                Connected to mickey.iafrica.com.
220 mickey FTP server (Version wu-2.4(4) Mon Feb 19
16:43:47 GMT 1996) ready.
                Name (mickey.iafrica.com:mgr.amed): jvbulow
                331 Password required for jvbulow.
                Password:
                230 User jvbulow logged in.
                Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
                ftp>
           ftp> ls
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
                malloc: Not enough memory space
abort: Operation not supported on socket

The error message on the HP3000 console was as follows.

system abort 1458 from subsystem 102
                        system halt 7, $05B2

Can anyone help me find out why this happened and hopefully help
me find a workaround. I am not going to be able to use the 3K for any
further development until the I am the only user (or until we get our
908 :) ), and worst of all overtime has been scheduled for the whole
week.

        Till next weekend...

        Regards
