I have one of these cables in my bag. I use it to connect to Cisco
routers. It is in two pieces. 1) An adapter to my 9-pinserial port
connector on my laptop and a flat regular plug RJ-45 cable. The cable
plugs into the 9-pin adapter which in turn screws into my serial port. The
other end of the RJ-45 plugs into the Cisco console port. Set any terminal
emulator, such as Reflection to 9600 no-parity and you're good to go.
Kind regards,
Denys. . .

Subject: CISCO Router Cable
We're installing CISCO 2501 routers on our frame relay network.
The network provider is also going to provide router-to-router
network management and needs to be able to dial into a modem
attached to the router. I've got the modems, but I need the
cable that connects the modem to the router. I don't have the
routers yet, but I understand it's an RJ45 to DB25 cable.
CISCO can provide a "Console Cable Kit" but they want $100
for it. Does anyone know of an alternative source for this
cable? I don't know what the pin-out is or I'd make my own.
Any help would be appreciated.
