FTP won't touch message files. I've tried it myself, but didn't get the
LONG MAPPED error message. You will have to change the type of file
from message to something more "standard." This is vaguely mentioned
in the FTP manual.
I, for one, wished FTP would support message files. FTP's "limitation"
forced me to make several changes to a project I was working on
because I assumed the file type made no difference. Of course, you
know what happens when you assume.........
