Thanks to all at TeamSamba. Up and running with 0.7.
C/S phone conference focusing on Samba was a good idea.
A few notes for the folklore and one problem.
- SETUPJ.PUB.SAMBA would not stream(or streamx).
STREAMX returned:
Nil ccb pointer - internal error. (CIERR 9016)
This is not a valid keyword for this command. (CIERR 10007)
I printed the file and typed commands by hand.
OK except for....
- NEWLINK /usr/local/samba, /SAMBA/PUB failed
as we didn't have a /usr/local directory yet.
Make sure if you create /usr/local it has security 777. This turned
out to be why testparm couldn't read the smb.conf
(:PRINT /SAMBA/PUB/lib/smb.conf worked but :PRINT
/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf *didn't*!. Same file. Different 'view')
After these small glitches SAMBA came up fine.
One problem with NMB.
Can't see the HP3000 through Network Neighbourhood on my Win95 box,
but my co-worker sees it fine on NT(ver?). I can still map a drive
from Explorer by explicitly defining the share name.
I've gone through the entire help file for Win95 on Michael
Gutterman's editcorp server. Changed a few things:
- Added WINS server info.
- removed NetBEUI
- added \win95\lmhosts file (\windows is 3.1, other boot)
Note: Also have 'IPX/SPX' and 'Client for Netware Networks'
network components.
Any ideas??
Bob.
