     Mike,

We have been using ESPUL for a couple of years now, and have not
experienced any problems. We only shut it down when necessary for a
reboot, or a change to ASP's Config or Error files. So in some cases,
it's been running continuously for month's without filling up any
     files.

     We have a 918 & 947 on Rls 5.0 and a 957 on Rls 4.0. We use the ASP
module to transfer print files from machine-to-machine and to network
printers. We also use the EXAMINE function to highlight errors in
     $STDLIST's.

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else uses the ESPUL product out there. We
continue to have problems bringing this job down gracefully in the past 4
months. We are running on a 969/420 on 5.0 w/ PP6 installed.

We stop and start this job at least twice daily. When the job won't come
down, we are forced into a reboot. It seems, according to the vendor,
that the message file fills up and cannot accept any more messages from
printers requiring attention. When we try to cycle the job, the last
message in the ASP logfile is:

(01098-139.85.82.9) ASP shutdown requested by external command
ESPUL-ASP shutdown at TUE, MAY 6, 1997, 6:10 PM.

HP cannot determine what is causing the condition looking at the memory
dumps, and the vendor is saying it's HP problem. If anyone can enlighten
me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mike Kapsak
