Oh, I don't know.  This was one of the enhancements we dreamed up
for the first version of Netware on the 3000.  The idea was that
an image database would show up as a directory on the 3000 that
you could CD to and then see all the datasets as files (named
with the dataset name).  You would be able to do a serial read of
any dataset by simply opening up the appropriate "file".  There
was discussion of ways to pass in an Image password, either as
part of the filename or by first writing the password to a "magic"
file.

It would all be custom extensions to the Samba code to do this, but
it probably wouldn't be that hard to implement if someone can think
of a really good reason to do it.

You can even extend the idea to allowing modifications (putting new
records by writing records to the dataset virtual file etc.).
