Hi Paul!

We have used exactly the same modem as dial-in modem on our HP3000 for a
year or two.

I know there are differences between US and European modem set-ups. We use
the European model up here - and this is how we configure this modem:

AT&F0 Load factory defaults from ROM

AT&R0 Lets Clear to Send act normally

ATQ2 Dumb Answer Mode

ATS10=2 Set time between when carrier is lost and when modem
                disconnects to 200 mS

AT$BA0 - means speed conversion is on

AT$SB19200 Selects 19,200 bps at serial port (or whatever you like here).

AT&C0 Forces Carrier Detect on

AT&S2 Data Set Ready drop is regulated by S24 on disconnect

AT&W0 Store current parameters in non-volatile RAM; modem will load these
parameters
at power-on or with ATZ command

Of course you must configure the DTC-port to the proper speed - and do
disable SpeedSensing.

You will need a special cable between your HP3000 and the modem.

Hope this helps you.
