Why on earth would it take 6 (SIX) days to update your system?.
If the FOS and SUBSYS tapes are no good, simply mount your most
current SLT from 5.0 and be done with it. (you did make a SLT before
you started the upgrade from h_ll ?). This way your users could be
working while you get resolutions from HP, the Listserver, ETC.
I'm interested to know which 5.5 version you are trying to apply,
and what issues you are encountering. As you probably know C55.01
is not a 'clean' release and you may or may not require several
patches, to make sure all your products will work.

Well, they have been at it for almost six full days now, trying to
install MPE/iX 5.5. I lost track of the number of new FOS and SUBSYS
tapes a couple of days ago when the number approached a dozen. The last
time users were able to log onto the system was last Thursday, almost a
week ago. The new FOS and SUBSYS tapes that arrived this morning have
failed, so now they have placed another call to the response center.

Ah, the fun of system upgrades...
