Jeff continued on DAT Tapes:

>Overall, 9-track tapes are a pain to cut, handle, and store; but DAT
>tapes appear more "fragile" a media to work with overall, and my gut
>feeling of confidence continues to decline with regard to DAT media.

....  Our internal DDS drives just "ate" a cleaning tape;
for awhile thought I was going to have to shutdown our
959 and disassemble it.... Finally closed my eyes and
pulled hard enough on the cartridge that it came out
without damaging the drive (I think (I hope) ); had about
3 inches of tape dangling outside the cartridge. One tape
to trash can.

Ever since Steve Cooper related some of his DAT horror
stories several IPROF's ago, we got and remain somewhat
nervous WRT DAT media. I guess with doing a VSTORE
on a different DDS drive for every DAT backup tape we cut,
we are hoping we are safe enough....
