These questions are addressed to anyone who has a
"feel" for sizing MANMAN/COGNOS installations.
What I'm looking for is either real capacity information
or some real world examples. If you have an example
that either works or doesn't work, please let me know
about it.
One of our customers has two 947 computers each
with approximately 60 users. Both computers have
256Mb of memory and mostly single-ended SCSI disk
drives. The environment is a CA/MANMAN environment
with COGNOS.
As the user count approaches 60 users, response time
becomes totally unacceptable. The user intends to replace
both computers with only one computer. The question is
what size should that computer be? Moreover, if the customer
intends to have 150 users in the new environment, will
the 967 still work? Is there enough capacity for 50% growth?
What is the best buy in this situation, a 987 field upgrade
or a 9x9 computer?
