Has anyone implemented any kind of middleware for building application
interfaces ?

I am talking about products like Microscript or tools from Century Analysis
- tools that allow data mapping between (business) applications and also
monitor the operation of the interfaces.  I am especially interested in what
they call screen-scraping or screen animation - where batch data is
input into an application by simulating online data entry.
