Randy,
You are indeed correct (hey, when I goof, I admit it :-) - without a
security package in place which enforces a session password, FTP will
support a session name as shown below from Windows 95 FTP:
Microsoft(R) Memphis
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1981-1997.
C:\WINDOWS>ftp idp950a
Connected to idp950a.idpnet.com.
220 HP ARPA FTP Server [A0007Z14] (C) Hewlett-Packard Co. 1990
User (idp950a.idpnet.com:(none)): JGEISER,JOE.TECH
331 Password required for JGEISER,JOE.TECH. Syntax: userpass,acctpass
Password:
230 User logged on
ftp>
...and the following on the 3000...
HOBBES: showjob job=joe.tech
JOBNUM STATE IPRI JIN JLIST INTRODUCED JOB NAME
#S71 EXEC 63 63 MON 3:46P JGEISER,JOE.TECH
#S72 EXEC 64 64 MON 3:46P JOE.TECH
2 JOBS (DISPLAYED):
0 INTRO
0 WAIT; INCL 0 DEFERRED
2 EXEC; INCL 2 SESSIONS
0 SUSP
JOBFENCE= 0; JLIMIT= 12; SLIMIT= 125
HOBBES:
...but when using a security package like SECURITY/3000 when session
names/passwords are enforced, there *will* be a problem.
Regards,
Joe
