Greetings!
    I just spent an "exhausting" 15 MINUTES getting Samba up & running.
 Most of the time was waiting for the Freeware tape to finish the
restore...Gosh am I tired....

I can't believe how painless it was (so far anyway). Way to go folks!
Thanks to Michael Hensley for the Freeware tape & Mel Bartels for his
message of March 13 with all the gotcha's & how to set this up.

I am sadly having 1 slight problem and another question:
1) I can't seem to get write access. I think I need to include a
user/password somewhere, but I don't know where. My section of the
smb.conf file looks like this:
[rat]
  path = /RATDEV
  user=MGR.RATDEV,userpass
  guest ok = yes
  write ok = yes

Other than this, it's generic from the tape. Do I need a user.map file?
 Where does it go? What's the format?

2) I can't seem to see anything regarding my system (hpix3) in "Network
Neighborhood" from my Win '95 PC. Any ideas?

Well,  back to Java...

Rat
