Many moons ago, there was a discussion on the list about rigging up a
means to telnet to the system's remote console port (the old "synapse
box" on 950/960/980 systems, not sure about the others) using a DTC port
in host mode and running a cable from the DTC port to the console port.
I don't recall the details, and I've searched the archives off and on
all morning with no luck other than a message I had sent in Nov 1995:
> Hmmm... someone not long ago (Guy Smith?) figured out a way with
> DTC-Manager to telnet to a DTC port and loop a cable over to an

I've grepped every notebook folder I've accumulated in my life for
messages from Guy Smith, so I was either mistaken or I didn't save the
original. If anyone has done this, let me know.
The thinking was to assign an IP address to a DTC port using DTC
Manager, set the port in host mode, and in theory when you telnetted
to that address you now have a serial line out of that port at it's
configured speed. However, I think I'm missing something (doesn't seem
to be working)... anyone?
