Is it just me (i.e., HP's code noticing the incoming IP address is
mine, and reacting accordingly :),
or
have other people noticed that the HP Electronic Support Center doesn't
work correctly if you deny it cookies?
I went into my Netscape configuration (Options/Network/Prefrences/Protocols),
and checked the "Show an Alert before accepting a cookie".
Now, when I try to login to the HP Electronic Support Center, after clicking
"Logon", Netscape alerts me that us-support.external.hp.com wants to
set a cookie (HP-ESC-ID).
I, of course, say "Cancel" (I don't like network cookies, just chocolate
chip cookies).
The logon *appears* to work, since I am presented with a search screen.
But, every attempt to do a search results in another login screen.
It's bad enough that the HP Electronic Support Center can't be used with
bookmarks (they generate new, synthetic URLs for you), but cookies too?!?!
(I mean, really, the synthetic URL is one of several *alternatives* to
cookies! You don't need them both.)
