Lars,
Thanks for your reply!
I have now gotten the smbclient client as well as smbd server to
function on the HP 3000!
With regard to making the pc client talk to hp 3000 server;
My WIN 95 PC under control panel, Network, TCP/IP properties
originally looked like this;
1) Bindings - nothing
2) Advanced - nothing
3) DNS Configuration - Disable DNS
4) Gateway - nothing
5) WINS Configuration - Use DHCP for WINS Resolution
6) IP Address - Obtain IP address automatically
My guess is that my hpserver is not registered in the WINS
server lookup table, because this is for PC's ie WIN95 and NT.
So I changed;
3) DNS Configuration - Enable DNS
a) Host mypc Domain myfake.boeing.com
b) DNS Search Order
###.###.###.###
###.###.###.###
###.###.###.###
(Note: I used the same resolution that the hp 3000 uses
by copying the numbers in reslvcnf.net.sys )
c) Domain Suffix Search Order
myfake.boeing.com
myfake1.boeing.com
myfake2.boeing.com
After making these changes disregarding the fakery :)
I was able to do this //hpserver//rwguest and a folder
poped up with a representation of all my files in the /tmp
directory wow!!!
Thanks Lars!
