You only need shadowing for the setup that you describe (been there, done
that).

If you want to protect yourself against disk failure, you can use
Netbase/Shareplex to shadow to the same machine.  You have to do something
to make sure the shadowed data doesn't finish up on the same disks as the
original - private volumes should work.

I have a question for anyone to answer.  Is there any reason why one
shouldn't run shadowing like this over the Internet?  Insecure, but very
cheap.
