I am sending this request to a wide audience. If you have no interest in COBOL
then please forgive the intrusion and Delete this message now.

The SIGCOBOL group from Interex is now an official liason member to the
International standards committee, X3J4, for the standardization of COBOL. This
means we are invited to send one, or more, members to attend the 2 monthly
meetings. I am unable to attend the next meeting so I am looking for someone to
attend as our representative. There are 2 meetings covering 2 weeks. I need
someone to attend at least one day to show that we are still interested in the
committee and to provide USER input to the development of the next standard.
The committee will make you very welcome. Both meetings will be held at -

     Radisson Heritage Hotel Chelmsford
     10 Independence Drive
     Chelmsford, MA
     Phone:(508) 256-0800
     Fax: (508) 256-0750

Monday February 17 to Friday February 21 1997

The first meeting is the Object Oriented Ad Hoc committee which is responsible
for the development of the Object Oriented features.

Sunday February 23 to Friday February 28 1997

The second meeting is the full X3J4 committee.

The chairman of the meeting is Don Schricker, Microfocus.

If any one is in the area and can attend for even one day please contact me as
soon as possible.

Thanks,

Jeanette Nutsford

SIGCOBOL Co Chairman
