Hi Stan:
I had thought of this approach and checked the manual for the mib
specification of
hp.nm.system.general.mpeXLSystem.processor.processorMIstate.
According to the docs it's read-only, default is 2 (as you stated)
which is disabled.
But... I thought I'd try it anyway... the following is the result:
:snmpset genesis public hp.nm.system.general.mpeXLSystem.processor.processorMIst
ate integer 1
Error in packet. Error status is 5. (SNMPWARN 908)
I also tried appending the ".0" to the mib variable, same result.
So I searched the CDROM for this error message - nada. Arg! Then I
searched for more information on SNMPSET and decided to try it's
example. And I quote from the manual (hoping I won't be sued)
MPEXL: snmpset xlnode public system.syscontact.0
Octetstring " 'Bob Jones' "
Name: system.sysContact.0
Display String: Bob Jones
MPEXL:
The following shows my results:
:snmpset genesis public system.syscontact.0 Octetstring " 'Jim Alton' "
The variable specified does not exist. (SNMPINFO 1802).
:snmpget genesis public system.syscontact.0
Name: system.sysContact.0
Display String:
:
Hmmmm.... I just don't know.
Jim
