Steve, I did some tests on my system.
Environment: HP3000 Series 967 MPE/iX 5.0 w/PowerPatch 5
Client: Windows 95 and Reflection 1 for Windows 95 Version 5.20
NS/VT Connection
Test 1.
Login as Manager.Sys
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD FALSE
Set Typeahead in Reflection OFF
NMMGR
Starts up just fine.
Test 2.
Login as Manager.Sys
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD FALSE
Set Typeahead in Reflection ON
NMMGR
Starts up just fine.
Test 3.
Login as Manager.Sys
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD TRUE
Set Typeahead in Reflection OFF
NMMGR
Screen Clears, keyboard locks, and it just sits there.
If I hit <alt><R>, <F8>, and <Enter> a few times, I eventually get: "Terminal
is of incorrect type or cannot be opened. (NMGRERR 1)"
"The terminal status request failed."
Test 4.
Login as Manager.Sys
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD TRUE
Set Typeahead in Reflection ON
NMMGR
Screen Clears, keyboard locks, and it just sits there.
If I hit <alt><R>, <F8>, and <Enter> a few times, I eventually get: "Terminal
is of incorrect type or cannot be opened. (NMGRERR 1)"
"The terminal status request failed."
Test 5.
Login as Manager.Sys on a REAL HP 700/92 Terminal Connected via DTC
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD FALSE
NMMGR
Starts up just fine.
Test 6.
Login as Manager.Sys on a REAL HP 700/92 Terminal Connected via DTC
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD TRUE
NMMGR
Starts up just fine.
Conclusion:
SETVAR HPTYPEAHEAD TRUE has an adverse impact on running
NMMGR from an R1 for Windows 95 version 5.20 client.
The setting of Typeahead inside Reflection doesn't seem to matter in this
case.
Any comments from WRQ?
