Thanks to all for the answers...

The KSAM and Sort on Key/Recnum revived my memory a lot (so much so, that,
well, remember the commercial where the guy slaps himself in the head and
says..."Gee, I coulda had a V8?")...and the SUPRTOOL answer made me want
to scream "Why the hell didn't I think of this???".

The file is thus sorted --- and work continues.
