Help. a very close (computer illiterate) friend has a shop with an
HP3000 with HP/ix. they have been accessing an accounting package via
dedicated serial connections from Win 3.1 PCs using the terminal
emulator Win92. Now they have migrated to network connections. The
PCs apparently do this well. Now they want to migrate from Win3.1 to
Win95 but the terminal emulator Win92 wont run under Win95.

So what kind of OS is MPE? Can they get typical TCP/IP services up
on it (they dont think they have it, and it doesnt answer a telnet
login attempt)? I read on the HP MPE product page that there is a
Telnet server. Is this optional? Should they expect to find it on
their machine? How about other TPC apps, eg rlogin, ftp, httpd?

What kind of terminal emulator is Win92? Does it and MPE use a
proprietary network protocol between them? or is it just a telnet with a
specific terminal model?

thanks for any help.
