We will begin our data warehouse initiative on our 3K; the original plan
was to deploy on a 9K, and I hope we will migrate from the 3K to the 9K,
only because the same 3K is also our production system for transaction
processing. Yes, I know that this is a really bad idea, and it sure
wasn't my idea; maybe it will look good on my resume. OTOH, production
is a 996/200 with 64GB of disk, so it should take a while before it
starts to hurt.

But I would be happy to pool my ignorance with interested Oracle on the
3K users. I will also be working with the hapless UNIX weenies who are
just as unhappy about the change of plans as I am. I will show them how
to handle MPE; they in turn will help me understand Oracle. It's a
win/win for everyone except the company.

There are of course Oracle Regional Users' Groups or ORUGs (insert your
own pun here). I guess it depends on what your focus is.
