As somebody else pointed out you might have tried to boot
from a SCSI device on an older system that does not support
booting from SCSI devices, or does not have the right system
firmware (IODC) or the necessary DDS drive firmware version
to do so.
Another reason for this message might be that you put the
SLT online in the DDS drive before you resetted the CPU
(CM>TC or CM>RS), but then the "boot from alternate" would
have failed and not the ISL>UPDATE.
