Miracle of Miracles!
Have you forwarded these messages of success to Lars, Jeff and Gregory?
They would be very interested!
The client will basically replace ftp, WRQ Transfer, NFS, and all other
string and cardboard methods of getting and putting files onto other
SAMBA servers, all NT servers, all WFW or Win 95 PC's.
It is lightning fast, and with a command like:-
echo ls | smbclient \\\\baltic\\archive <password> -U <username>
you get this
Added interface ip=196.22.0.64 bcast=196.22.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Server time is Sat Nov 23 08:52:51 1996
Timezone is UTC+2.0
Domain=[BANKMED] OS=[Windows NT 3.51] Server=[NT LAN Manager 3.51]

36572 blocks of size 524288. 3128 blocks available
and you can get and put files etc. at will.
The REAL value of SAMBA is the server side (smbd and nmbd), where the
HP3000 will look just like Baltic does in the above client example, and
will allow the HP3000 to play a really useful part in an NT environment.
From my PC
C:\WINDOWS>net view \\pacific
Shared resources at \\PACIFIC
Sharename Type Comment
----------------------------------------------------------
logfiles Disk Telephone tracking log files
netbackup Disk Netbackup share for user neil
software Disk Software Server Share
The command was completed successfully.
Pacific is an HP9000 running SAMBA with the three shares logfiles,
netbackup and software.
It could be an HP3000 :) :)
Keep up the excellent work
BTW would you consider mailing me the binaries that you have compiled so
far?
Cheers
Neil
