Somebody after Stan after Jeff after me after Stan after Gregory:
>YYYY would also be understood by the other majority of
>PowerHouse Programmers and MPEX tinkerers on the HP3000.
>>Gregory writes:
>>>.... YYYY is programmer jargon....
>>> a raw nerve. It is HPMonth, not HPMM. HPYYYY is inconsistent. And
>>> HPSUSAN is an acronym for System Unique Assigned Serial Number. YYYY
is
>>> no acronym; it is COBOLese.
>>You mean, COBOLese as in "immediately understood by
>>the majority of programmers on the HP3000"? :)
I also still respectfully disagree with Gregory: As pointed
out by others, English majors are not the target audience
here: It's the programmers who will be using this. And I
expect Stan's "real world" test would be confirmed in a
majority of cases....
Actually, I liked Jeff's response the best.. :-)
And now I apologize for giving in to temptation and beating
on this one last time; I'm done....
